So I have a question about my Marshall cabinet.

It's an early 70's cab and I opened it up today to see what speakers are in it. Pretty sure they are not stock but who knows. They are Celestion G12-50 speakers - they look just like the G12-65 speakers. Same white and black label anyway.

So I'm wondering if it is possible that these are the original speakers?

Crap.

I already closed it up... I did take some pictures of it though and I *think* the code is GN 13.

Here's a pic with my best CSI impression (thanks to Photoshop) in the upper left corner:

if it's GN, then it was made in 1980.

if it's GH, it was made in 1975.

I'm pretty sure it's GN too.

Well I bought this thing about 12-14 years ago. I'm pretty sure the guy I bought it from said it was an early 70's cab but I could be wrong.

So is there any way to know if the cab is from 1980 as well? Or did they stop making these cabs at some point? I am pretty sure they were re-issued at some point... just wondering.

Thanks!

ahhh...looks like an early 70's cab...love that grill...mine is a 74..looks just like that...do you have the circular plate in the back??how are the corners?it is easssy to tell that mine is early 70's...she smells like 74!!

A couple of the corners are missing... couple screws from the back are as well. It has the round plate for the jack.

I might replace some of the corners - if it was all original I was going to just leave it as is. That's why I was wondering about the speakers.

i am playing mk iv and mk IIc+ exclusively now..the greenies cannot handle to power...my head and cab (marsh) are just gathering dust-I can get the tone I was getting from the marsh, plus so much more....I can go from Allman Bros to Tool and all points in between-not so with the marsh-going on sell this week
