Anybody have much experience with this pairing? I'm looking at getting a 4x12 cab to go with my Mark III, and of course the market is flush with Marshall 1960 cabs both old and new.

Experiences and opinions welcomed!

I do, exclusively. They're in my old JCM800 cab that I've been using live and on all my recordings along with my semi-new Orange PPC 4x12. To me, they're perfect with the Mark III. When nice and broken in, they're really tight and smooth on the highs with just the right amount of bottom. Very clear as well. They push cleans really nice, too. I'd recommend them for this particular amp.

Some people say they sound too scooped and prefer the mid hump of the V30's but I like either or. It's almost a mood thing which is why alot of people mix the two speakers for the best of both. The G12-T75's are awesome speakers for any style of playing; clean, rock and metal. Being in a 4x12, you'll find they will like that little extra shove of volume to find their sweet spots.

Edit: Just like the V30s, the G12-T75's are also great recording speakers, and as Nep pointed out, also sound great broken in (or fresh out of the box). I hated recording my Eminence speakers. Never could get the mids to not sound overbearing without taking the "magic" out of the sound.

Totally agreed, Sonic..they do have some scoop to them. And as you mentioned, when you give them volume, they really open up something fierce. But they also work really well for me when using Class A at lower volume with the right settings. I don't have any experience with any of the new 75's with the Mark III, if they've even changed at all. Same as you as well, I had a 4x12 loaded with Eminence and they were really 'spikey' and harsh.

interesting.. I was considering a similar thing with my mark 5, but somehow lean towards a mix of 2x V30s and 2x G12-65 in a 4X12 stiletto cab.. I gotta get some money and try it out.. G12-T75 were always shrill sounding when I tried those..

Just yesterday I tried my Mk IIB Combo with some of my cabinets: the 4x12 with G12-T75 sounds quite mid scooped as stated before, although nice: Classic rock with a lot of bottom and bite. My 2x12 with G12-65 is more even but also with a quite strong bite. 4x12 greenbacks is nice too, a little more raunchy upper midrange.
But switching back to the built in EV 12L with the additional Thiele 1x12 brought back, what I want to hear from a Boogie: full and even response with a strong, tenor like, singing midrange.

I really hate standing in front of G12T-75s (icepick top end)... but I do like the way they record (very chunky when driven with cool overtones on palm mutes).

They blow goats with anything Rectifier, but with the older Marks...like a glove.Chunky and tight as balls. The more broken in, the better too.
