So my mark V has been shipped off for repair work, and my shop has kindly lent me an electra dyne in the meantime.

I've completely fallen in love with the blue channel on it, it's got the big crunchy tones I've always had difficulty getting out of channel 2 of the mark V. While I would love to get a second amp, i'm realistically pinned to one amp, my mark V. Overall, I like the Mark more, but I want to be able to achieve something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_OdsD01woo&feature=relmfu (last band writing session).

any suggestions? What mode, approx settings would you guys use to get something like this going on? I'm using a white falcon . Crunch mode is thinner sounding than this and Mark 1 mode doesn't tend to cut the same way.

DrChaos,
I'll try to help. A new setting I have been using on my MV combo connected to a lonestar 410 so ymmv.
channel 2 Mark I mode
EQ sliders form a line going upward (ie low base, high highs)
Gain:9-10
vol:9-11
pres:10
treble:1
mid:9:30
bass:12 (add bass here that was lowered in the eq sliders) this is the trick here.
adjust all settings to taste and use the thick switch for even more thickness.
I never used the thick switch until I lowered the bass on the sliders and raised the bass on the knob. I hope this helps, it has been one of my favorites. :D

I did something similar to this with Mark 1 mode, but couldn't use Channel 3 then could of the slider settings for Mark 1. I wish you could use different EQ slider settings for all channels. If you could, the Mark V would slay all amps in the world. But I can only get a great tone out of ch3 with a decent tone on ch2 because of the shared EQ sliders.
