Anyone had the need or compelling desire to replace the stock PT and OT in their Mark V? I was talking to Patrick over at Mercury Magnetics about replicating the old Schumacher 105's from the IIC+ and III era and what they have found with their drop in replacements. The consensus seems to be better order harmonics, more power and staying together better at higher volumes.
My V serves one purpose and that is the IIC+ mode/triode/EQ in for the crunch. I don't even hook the footswitch up for gigging. But, I slave the V into the FX return of a JMP 2203 that I had modded with a tube FX loop and some post-preamp EQ control. This really rounds out the overall tone of the rig.
