Hey everyone. I just got a Mark V head with 2x12 closed back cab. When I switch channels, there's a very slight lag time between channels, more like a very fast volume fade from one channel into the other. Is this normal? It's a very fast thing, and you can't tell when playing with a band, but you can definitely tell when playing by yourself.

The amp sounds amazing on all channels, and everything seems to be spot-on otherwise.

I have a Mark IV combo and there is no lag or volume fade when switching channels with that one.

I read somewhere on here where someone was saying this may be an engineering effort to counter for "pop" every seems to experience when changing channels.

Thanks!

I have the same thing for my zv as well. The funny the is that the iv doesn't have any of these quirks.

Channel 2 Crunch to Channel 3 iV mode - same thing. Very quick volume fade. Annoying.

I spoke with Boogie and they said that is normal with the V. Fortunately this dones't show up too bad live in a band situation with everyone else playing and covering it up.

My Mark IV definitely doesn't do it all. I love the V, but when it comes to just an amp, I'm beginning to thing the IV is a better amp. I mean the V has way more options, but from a channel to channel tone to tone perspective, the IV is seemless. Having said that, I think the V has to be used totally differently. Instead of the IV having 3 channels, where you adjust the third channel slightly louder for leads, the idea with the V is that you can use the same channel for both leads and rhythms via the lead button on the footswitch, so a blues player, for example, may never need to use channel 3 at all, just as a metal player may never need channel 2. That's how I am going to approach it going forward. Channel 3 - will be for heavier songs, channel two more groovy classic sounding rock songs. We'll see ....

The V is definitely an incredible amp, but as Boogie says, it's really a collection of amps. The Mark IV is its own amp.
