I have the chance to try out a Mark V so I'm having a bit of fun playing around with one. However, the foot switch doesn't seem to work. I have the Loop Assign and Channel selector set to FTSW, I turn it on and the footswitch doesn't work. The only thing that's lit up is the EQ. Stepping on anything else does nothing.

If I turn the Loop Assign to "on all", it lets me use the footswitch for the loop, EQ reverb, solo and mute, but doesn't let me select channels with it. (Although they do light up) The channel select is still on FTSW.

I've tried a different cable and no luck.

Is there some other setting I'm missing? Or am I just dealing with a faulty footswitch or amp?

Thanks!

what channel is the amp in? By default, the amp should power up in CH1 with the channel selector in FTSW. It sounds like you have the 8 pin cable otherwise you would not be able to turn on or off the effects loop. I would try swapping the ends of the cable just to see if that makes a difference. Check to see if the channel selector operates properly by rotating it to the different channels, LED should light up for each channel. Do this with footswitch connected, repeat with it unconnected.

I have been considering getting a different cable for my footswitch controller. I believe that sweetwater has an 8 pin din cable (saw it in an add for a midi controller). However I did not feel that the cable was the issue. At times, the footswitch would go into an erratic behavior if it was bumped or moved, and sometimes it would occur when powering up the amp. I needed to discover why I was having issues with the footswitch, only to discover a poor means of providing earth ground to the metal chassis of the footswitch and the PCB. This screw placed a considerable amount of bow on the PCB. This can lead to fractures of solder joints especially if lead free solder was used for assembly. I decided to replace the screw with a shorter one and completed the ground with a wire with ring terminals at both ends to remove the PCB flex. Also reflowed all of the solder joints of the 8 pin din connector. Have not had any issues since. I can move the cable and or footswitch without the chatter of the relays.

Uh, mine power up in CH1 but with all 3 channel leds on the FW on.

Thanks.

Yes, it powers up in channel 1 and if I have the effects loop set to all, all the lights light up. If I have it set to FTSW, only the effects loop lights up and nothing else works. Both the channel select and loop are set to FTSW. I've tried all channels manually and they all work.

That is odd. Do you get the same issue with the footswitch when the loop is in Hard Bypass?
