Just received the Suhr riot today and it sound so flubby on my Mark V's channel 1 ! :(

Another one experienced it ?

Wow! sorry to hear that mate, guess these things just happen with some combinations of gear, dont run any drives anymore since I got my MV but it sounded ok with my OCD, TS9 and pinnacle before i got rid of them.

There have been other dudes here who have said that. My buddy got one and says its his favourite high gain pedal ever, but he plays through an Orange. To me, mid/high pedals are redundant with the V.

the preamp gain of the v is so high that any pedal in front that has medium gain or higher push way too far.

i think you have to go the opposite way--use a mild od/boost, like a ts type pedal on low gain settings. that'll accentuate the mids (if that's what you're going for). not sure what the gain is like in the riot, though.

Just curious why you would even need that pedal with the Mark V.

oh just to have another sound with the V without tweaking knobs but I'm really satified with the "stocks" sounds

+1

IMO there would be no reason to run a Suhr Riot in front of the Mark. The Mark is a 3 channel amp... I suppose if you wanted a quasi 4th channel?

I found the Riot to be somewhat pointless with any hi-gain amp.

im getting the wampler triple wreck to get a DR kind of tone. Hope this will work as some others here have good experience with it.
Im very happy with the mark V but used to have the road king so i would like to add that kind of DR distortion as an option with Mark V.

I was one of the people doing that. The Wampler is really good, but I ended up trading it for an ADA MP1. I just didn't use the pedal enough to justify keeping it.
