Hello all
We are 2 friends who plan to buy the MkV.
I play blues, rock and hard rock-metal ,and I think that MkV would be perfect for that kind of playing.
My friend plays mostly jazz but also blues, flamengo, mexican music with a Pat Martino signature Gibson.
Does anybody plays jazz with the MKV,so he can give us a clue about the amp's behaviour with that kind of music?
Or do we have to look at the Fender amps?
Any help welcome :D

The fat channel is awesome for that clean rich sounds. First thing I though of was jazz. Seems like overkill though.

I use the Lonestar Classic for jazz. Currently play with a Höfner archtop. I get some nice mild bridge-humbucker breakup sonuds out of Ch. 2 as well with my Music Man 20th Anniv. Silhouette. Since this amps clean has basically become the benchmark for all Mesa cleans, I would suspect the Mark V would do fine in that matter, but as many have said, unless you have good use for higher gain distortion, it would seem like a waste of money compared to something like the Lonestar, which is Mesas most clean, fenderish amp. I'd definitely check it out before settling on a Mark V.

I haven't tried my Mark V for jazz yet, but I did play a Mark IV for jazz gigs for a couple of years and it sounded amazingly good... fat cleans and smooth lead tones. I'm expecting the same out of the V, though will probably need to take a bit more time to dial it in vs. my current over-the-top rock settings.

thanks everybody for your help.I understand that MKV is too much for jazz,as you will never use the other 2 chanells.
We will check Lonestar for jazz playing as Octavarius said.
