100% percent mate, in fact I would say it thrives with my EMG 81TW and also the SA in my Jaden Rose custom, also sounds great with passives but the actives really add some punch.

Simple answer, yes they do.

I use my ESP with EMG 81/60 with my recently added 18v mod and they work perfectly, really add some power for hard rock and metal. Even the cleans sound beautiful, nothing wrong with actives, they push the amp gooood.

they sound great but they do have the standard EMG noise from their design. My gibson sg standard sounds amazing too with passives. You can't go wrong with the Mark.

I prefer passives with the Mark V for more body and chunk.

The EMG-81 sounds good and tight and crisp for speed metal.

The MKV is an extremely versatile amp. It goes speed metal EMG Actives, it runs a single coil strat sweet, put an SG in front of it and it is great classic rock. I have not found any pup that does not get along with at least one channel/mode of the V.

I haven't tried EMGs with my mark v, but I personally prefer passive sound to my active blackouts. But both still sound great

thanks guys. the store in my town that carries boogies has pretty much crappy guitars minus a few esp's with emg's. so today i was set to go and try out the mark v and buy one for "my wife" for mothers day.... i get there, and they sold it. ugghhhh. may have to make a road trip

Here are some sound clips with EMG's:

If you read the entire post you will find that I'm having a bit of tube trouble, but the EL34 sound should give you an idea..
