Hi all,

New guy here. I currently own a Mark V and would like to know the most favored 2x12 cab to run with it. I'm seriously thinking about a Mesa vertical 2x12, but not sure of which speakers to go with. I thought about ordering one from the factory with C90's in it? Good choice? I will mostly be playing at home at relatively lower volumes. Or would I be better off with one of those "old" used Mesa vertical 2x12's from the 80's? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

At lower volume levels the C90s sound much smoother than the V30s, which really need to be pushed a bit to sound their best. I have a horizontal Recto 2x12 with V30s that hardly ever gets used. My 3/4 back 2x12 with C90s gets quite a bit of use, and I have lately been spending more time with an Express 23 1x12 and sealed back 1x12, both also with C90s.

The old Halfback 212's from the 80s are amazing. They have 1 C90 in the top (open back), and an EVM12L in the bottom (closed back). It's the perfect pair.

I went with a pair of 1x12 widebody cabs. The top is open back and the bottom is ported/thiele.

Still don't know how it'll sound exactly... I'll let you know when they finally come in.

Thanks for the comments. Let me get your opinion on this: Let's say I was to get a Mesa Vertical 2x12 cab....would it be better to get one with 2 C90's or one with a C90 and a V30?

PORT CITY 2X12 CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2X12 horizontal is a great cab , Im not a big fan of C90s personally . Ill take the V30s any day . I did try a Port City cab recently and it was very nice indeed .

I have two...both with the v30s.I find they sound smooth at low volume...brutal when you crank em.Cant find any faults in em myself man.Though when I turn it up I find myself dialing the treble out a bit.Given the c90 in the combo I have...which is nice as a stand alone.I would go with the v30 having compared over the last few months.Certainly test one out first if you have the chance.

i just got a vader 212 and will let you know how it turns out...I yet to use it....
