Research into Mesa serial numbers is not an exact science. Daniel did a great job and seems to be taking a bit of BS for his effort. All Boogie serial numbers and models overlap, so shut up and deal with it.

I owned a 2/84 IIC+ serial 12233. Twelve scholars told me it was an upgrade or impossible, yet there it was. 100% untouched factory stock. Anything is possible.

Thank you, Ed, for your gracious support.

I don't have the technical expertise and knowledge that you have about Boogies but I definitely enjoy reading your posts with great insight about technical stuff. The only thing I thought I could contribute to this board was some research on serial numbers as a way of retribution to people like you that share so much information with us.

Best regards
Daniel

The last II-C that I have seen is:
- 2/84 with s/n 12376 (Quote)

I've got a long frame s/n 12379 (2/84) verified by my local boogie tech as being factory. I thought I had one of the first 3 or 4 produced but now that I'm reading this thread who knows, could have been many produced before mine. Guess I just wanted to think I had a special part of C+ history :|

Hey guys I've owned my MarkIIA going on 16yrs and in the last six months have really gotten into figuring out what I actually own.. However I can offer the info I do have.

1) stamped serial # 4910
2) sharpie date 2/7/80
3) chassis model SSR

4 - 12ax7 1 - 12at7 2 -6L6's

12" EV in plywood cab.

If anyone could share info on my amp.. Feel free..

That 4910 is a very strange serial number.

I have seen another 2/7/80 (what a coincidence!) but with serial number 4722.
I also saw a 1/31/80 Mark II-A with s/n 4691, a 2/19/80 with s/n 4782, a 2/22/80 with s/n 4806, a 3/5/80 with s/n 4868 and a 4/16/80 with s/n 5059.

Kevysupertune,
check this thread that was started by mark2boogie and where I pitched in with some recommended settings and some additional info.

Updated information on Mark III serial numbers (Colis are not included).

As you know, there are some overlaps and some freaky numbers (heads are sometimes out of their own stripe range).

- black stripe (3/85 to 1/86): 15001 to 16715
- purple stripe (1/86 to 12/86): 16657 to 19059
- red stripe (12/86 to 1/88): 18949 to 21863
- blue stripe (1/88 to 5/89): 21825 to 24933
- green stripe (5/89 to 9/98): 24898 to 28386

Blue Stripes in 60W and 100/60W power amps extend into green stripe territory. All Green Stripes were Simul-Class and fully loaded.

Hope it helps.

I heard from a little mouse that the rear plates where preordered and already stamped. When ordered all you had to specify is starting number. (i.e. ordering checks) Now imagine a box loaded with rear panels during production of said model on a shelf pre stamped in a factory with employee access. Picture this scenario as well with the end of PT105 to Mark III PT. I have seen early blacks s/n with Mark III PT and later with 105PT. I can picture employees just reaching in and the one they touched is the one they used. What if one rear plate slid off the top stack and down the side and did not get used until months/years later. Would probably end up on different stripe. What if they went to the wrong box all together. I.e Mark III coli's with s/n's and not K's.. Same applies to face plates. Gain boost-vs-pull deep. There are Factory C+'s that have gain boost deep into production, Heck I have a Black stripe with gain boost...The s/n are more like guidelines.
Very easy to see how there are gaps and out of range s/n..

I have a Mark 11 from October 8th, 1979 (sharpie on chassis) with serial number 4310 if that helps at all. Patents Pending on back.

Just to add to the list, mine is a Mark I dated 3-78 with a green sharpie on the chassis, with serial # A1747.

Thanks for taking the time to do some Boogie archeology! :) It is in fact not a perfect science but still very interesting to know and learn about how our amps were manufactured.

I have a 1987 MKIII Red Stripe serial #20210. No graphic EQ, WITH Reverb.
Date & initials found on underside of internal chassis.
I can not find one similar in multiple searches spanning years though.. the 1/2 power, standby, power switch, and indicator are unlike any I've been able to find (more akin to the GEQ versions, but indicator on opposite side of switch array)
This amp is factory stock. It survived a house fire in a basement studio (certainly would have had at least some water from firefighting?)
Insurance obviously could not replace it, so they shipped immediately to Mesa for thorough inspection/reconditioning.
Mesa re-tubed, tested, and shipped back With a large official looking red WARNING tag (which I keep for sentimental value) 🤣 thing is an absolute TANK!
I don't intend to sell, but I do try to find a value for it now and then, but considering it is slightly different than anything I can find, it's basically a mythological creature at this point.. lol 🤷
I enjoy all the sleuthing though! 😁
