Same exact thing. It's just mounted in the rack case instead of the headshell. The only thing to watch out
for is make sure it has the bottom mounted fan and reverb tank. Other then that check the fx loop to see
if it's a IVa or IVb. You can google images to see which is which but the IVb has the send in the middle
and a bit raised and the returns on either side a bit lower.

Just to clarify, it is the same as the short head. The short chassis is 17 inches wide. The long head is a few inches wider (something like 20 inches I think), has the EQ assign and mid-gain/harmonics switches, and power status lamp on the front panel, and it is not rackmountable. There is a rackmount kit that you attach to the short chassis to give it the rack "ears" as well as a black sheetmetal "grille". The mark short chasis is very versitile. It can be a head, a 1x12 combo, or rackmounted.

yes. and i should have clarified as well. the rackmount is the short head with the mid gain\simul class\pentode
switches on the back.

How deep of a rack should I get?

hey man, good to see you made it here!

I'd find out just how deep the head is, and get a rack to fit it snug. I made the mistake of buying a deep 4-space rack for a few units, and i have like about 12" of extra space, and the thing doesnt sit on top of my cab nicely, instead, it overhangs in the back which I do not like. if you're gonna rack mount it, go shock mount.

if you want to rack the head only and nothing else look on ebay for "mark IV case".

Quite a few nice options there from 100-200 bucks. foam inserts, shockmount etc etc.
will give you a good idea of whats out there.
