Playing last night I was getting some amazing blues and plexi style sounds from R2, I'm starting to really get into R2.

Does anyone else like R2?? : )

It was a tricky channel when I used to have my Mark IV. I started out not really liking it much and used the EQ to squeeze more oomph out of it at home and practice. Got to a gig and ended up turning the EQ off and really liked R2 once it was cranked! Very sensitive amp IMO and that channel is even more temperamental than the rest!

BUT, don't get me started on the clean channel... yuck.

Now the LEAD channel was where the magic was...

Yup !! Another R2 fan here !!! R1 is ok, not quite as good as my Single Rec but better than any Marshall I've tried, R2 reminds me of Vintage mode on my Single Rec, kinda loose feeling but very responsive and Lead is for me the one I spend more time tweaking and loving !! :D

for those, who don't believe that RH2 on MKIV could sound good:

it's slovak hard rock band. guitars were recorded with gibson SG, mark IV rh2 and the main part of this sound - guitarist's hands 8)

I just got mine yesterday, and I gotta say, Im digging R2. For megadeth/metallca stuff I can really get in there and squeeze it out with the EQ. Lead channel goes to super high gain stuff.

Hey nice! Your band? Very King's X-ish.

I really like R2 myself. I'm in a cover band at this time and I use R2 for classic rock/metal stuff like AC/DC and the likes. It really sounds good for that stuff while the lead channel, of course, rocks for more modern metal. Also, pinch harmonics on R2 have a very unique sqeal/cry to them. Reminds me of that song from The Tragically Hip - New Orleans is Sinking...

I used to hate R2.
But I found that when I push it hard on the input with my Les Paul, it's potential finally came through.
I could not get there with my strat.
It took the burstbucker pickups to get the tone I wanted from R2.
I love R2 now.

Absolutely! I only hang out on R2 on my Mark IVA. Crunchy at full blast, clean with the volume down, pedal for leads. This is the reason I'm selling my Mark IV, just don't use enough of it.

another samples from same guitarist http://vadimpolkeblavy.sk/vpb.php?main=media

everything I know about the settings is lot of mids and full gain on rh2 :D

I love it w/ the pres pulled. There are some great classic rock and rock sounds on that channel.

I love R2. Right now I have it dialed in so that it sounds a lot like a highly driven AC30.

I also love r2. It sounds more meatier than the lead channel does to me. Has anyone tried boosting it or using another pedal (tube screamer etc.) to achieve more metal tones out of it? I mean i can almost get it there..there is just a little something missing for that type of music for me.

A BB Preamp on R2 for a slight push yields some outstanding tones. As just an OD with low gain on the BB it turns R1 into something very special. I couldn't say enough about R2 before and am still speechless at this Rev.A's R2. From bubbly slow raunchiness to a myriad of crunchiness on through to some excellent old metal tones w/ the BB this old amp is the best thing since slice bread. With the EQ and the BB it's almost a 12 channel amp.

R1 is definitely no slouch either. R1 vol 10, channel 5, output on 6 it's nuts. Backing off your guitar vol a hair yields this excellent punchy smooth flutey tone of tube goodness. Was doing Hotel California at a wedding and since everyone there was pretty toasty we leveled up bit and I couldn't get over the sound emenating from my amp in R1 when we would come down to the G in the intro(capo @ 9th) Outstanding amplifier.

Enough from me. As others have said, you need to let it breathe, stand back and behold the glory. :D
