Mark IV on the way. Need help with serial number

Well, I made a trade with a nice guy and I have a Mark IV head on its way to me. The wait's gonna feel like an eternity.

I'm ready to do some tweaking with the knobs. Not one of my favorite things to do but I'll take my time.


Can you guys tell me some info about this amp by the serial number? Like when it was made, what version, and anything else?

It should be a B. You can tell if it was made in the last 10 years or so if it has the smooth elephant style tolex. Also it will have the newer style LED's on the footswith with the clear plastic covers and not the red LED sticking out.

I am not positive but I believe the B's started sometime after the 5000's.

What did you trade for the Mark?

You might want to think about investing in some new power tubes if the owner hasn't replaced them.

Just look at the back and you'll be able to tell what version it is. If you pull the chassis you can get a build date inside. It is in sharpie.
