Sorry if this has been asked before. I read the manual and did a search under mark series and still cannot figure it out. What the mark iv type A manual says..."The loop labeled normal stays on all the time. The other loop is switched in or out of the circuit by either the footswitch...". But in my MK IV Type A, for the Normal loop effects to work, the rocker switch at the back has to be set to Normal. If I do that, then I cannot footswitch my delay pedal which is plugged into the switchable fx send/return at the back. If I switch the rocker at the back of amp to 'switchable', I can footswitch on/off my delay, but the effects plugged into 'Normal' fx send/return are off.

How can I have the effects in Normal loop always on and footswitch my delay effect on/off? What am I doing wrong here? Thanks!

I don't think it was meant to work that way on the A. Its either always on and automatically assignable in the normal mode to the channels, or off and bypassed until switched on in all channels. Plus, isn't there only one FX send?

I will get my IVa back from the practice room today and have a look and check it out. I always run it dry and nothing in the FX loop.....but I am curious now. Will toss an FX in the loops and let you know what I find.

If that's the case, the manual is wrong. It says "the normal is on all the time". If so, then why is there a rocker switch to select from normal to switchable? And there is no middle 'off' position for that one rocker switch.

Yeah normal is on all the time on when it's switched to the normal fx loop.

Shep is right!! :D

I thought it would be cool to have 2 loops - one in all the time and another that you could switch in and out - the PERFECT setup for a solo boost.

However, in practice, you can only select one or the other :(

To me if my mk iv A could be both all the time i think i couldn't handle it becasue it would be Just TOO awesome. Such is life. ahah. I just run a GCX thought the normal loop All the time and that gives you 8 things(effects) on and off.?? Theres an idea?
