mark III/ volume pedal in E/loop

Anyone have any experience with this? I've heard if you put a volume pedal in the loop, you can adjust the vol1 input to clean up....I think I heard it applied to the IIB, but how about a mark III?

This doesn't work in a Mark III. The volume pedal acts like a master volume. It will controll the output level, not the gain.

Although this is a good trick to keep your amp under control that I do routinely.
