I'm replacing a broken pot: the "middle" control. The mark III schematic that's floating around the web lists it as 10k. I ordered the part from Mesa/Boogie: told them I wanted the "middle" control for a mark III. My meter claims the new one is 8k. But what bugs me is that I just removed the broken one (the shaft was broken, such that the knob worked, but the pull-switch didn't), and the meter says it's 18k.
10k vs. 8k I might attribute to manufacturing. But going from 18k to 8k seems like a big jump. Anyone know if this is a safe change?
I guess it just means the middle range won't go as low as previously, but the high should be the same.
