V5 is for driver
V4 is for reverb
V3 is for lead channel
But Randall explains those things better than me

V3 is for lead
V1 is for clean for R2 and lead
V2 is for the effects loop, and one part of the tube is a gainstage for the R2.
So when you put the amp on lead, you have four gainstages, when you put it one lead and you also pull the R2, you have five gainstages.
That's a lot of gain, ENGL powerballs only have four gainstages.
If you want some more gain, you can pull the rythm2 knob. But I can't imagine you want any more gain than that.xiwiwix said:I'm thinking of putting Tung Sol's in V1 and V2 and a RFT in the V3. I'm looking to add a little more gain and smoothing out the tone a little while fattening it up a little. What is a "tube driver"? Does it need any special tubes for the PI?
