This seller has sold a number of Boogies, so I'd guess he's pretty reputable. The head looks to be in great shape, recently maintained, nice headshell and includes the footswitch. IMO it's worth the money. Like others have mentioned, I prefer the on-board Eq, but that's easily fixed by running one on the loop. I doubt you'd have much trouble getting your money back on a resale.

Is running a good EQ pedal in the loop going to have the same identical effect on the sound as having the onboard EQ?

I'm asking because I was always using the onboard EQ on the MKIII I used to have, and I remember I wasn't in love with the non-EQ'd sound.

If your looking to scoop the mids, bump up the bass and treble then yes a MXR 10 band EQ or a 3 band parametric EQ will get you there.
With the parametric you can actually dial in a sweep frequency range that will cover the 80, 750, 6600 sliders. The Empress has a switch that you can select how wide
the center frequency is for that given range. The 10 band graphic will provide more fine tuning in the in-between bands.

But this opinion is coming from the one selling the amp so please get others opinions as well because I don't want to come off as a person in salesman mode.

I have owned (3) non-Eq'd C+'s, and (4) C+'s w/ EQ. One that I owned had the similar setup, 60/100 - export transformer - no eq. It was one of the best amps I have ever heard. Tight focus and extremely smooth. I used an old MXR 10 band EQ in the loop. Personally, I can not tell much of any difference between the onboard EQ, and using the MXR in the loop.

With that amp being recently serviced, and being in that hardwood headshell, it is definately worth it!!!

I would totally buy from Pearskill/DaveP. Plus any mesa that has been at the mesa factory for a service is an easy decision as well. If you see the yellow return auth. repair/service form, any worries will was away.

the GEQ or not is a personal thing. For me, it's almost a must have, but running a 10 band mxr in the loop should do the trick easy.
