OK, everybody who thinks this is over-priced, raise your hand...
Now everybody with their hand raised, who doesn't have $3500, put your hand down...
Thought so...

$3500 is the 'buy it now' price. The starting price is $2500. That's not really out of line. IMHO

Quoted from the Ebay seller: "This amp was smartly ordered by its original owner, as it omits only the EQ option that most people think detracts from the tone."

My hand is still up, although it is a very nice amp, despite the omitted option.

Mesa claims the GEQ is by no means in the circuit and coloring any of the rich tone of an equiped prduct. So then, how smart is not getting it really? I'll buy only when it has the GEQ. So then the not so smart are buyers too. Really what is the big deal with price at my age... it's meaningless to some. And I'm in that group.

That statement about the EQ is a half-truth. The way it was put to me is: "The non-EQ models have a little bit more punch (BALLS) than the EQ models with the EQ sliders set flat."

Now, if you were to move any of the EQ sliders, all bets are off in my opinion. FWIW, I play my Mark series amps with the switch set to EQ AUTO which only engages the EQ in the lead channel. And if I'm in the vintage groove, I set the switch to EQ OUT, turn vol 1=9, and back down the lead drive to the 2-4 range. Crank the master volume and let it rip. There is nothing wrong with a non-EQ C+ sound for sure, but the EQ lets the amp become more user friendly with different types of guitars. :D

How can you tell?

Leather corners on a IIC+ is highly anachronistic. Plus the black handle hardware and "modern" style tolex. The non-jute front "grill" is probably from the original head cab.

yep, I pass up the 60 watt version so you and other fortunates may have at it
That sure is great to see the consistancy in their build quality.

I have an appreciation for it, but no interest in buying one.
My interest and appreciation is to own the fully optioned combo version.

I bet if you played a 60 Watt C+ (a good one) you'd think differently. I've owned four C+ amps. By far, and Mike B agrees, the best of the lot, and the best MEsa I've ever played or heard, was the 60 watter.

BEing the idiot that I am I sold the 60 Watter, but I still have a SimulClass C+ with reverb (No EQ) that is almost as good. I'd trade it straight across for my old 60 Watter.

I agree with you 100%

sorry , I spoke without knowing. I want one of each now.

I think both types of amps sound great. It's just that IMHO there's not a whole big difference between them.

This thread can go round in circles. Those with the 60W version claim they are better than the 60/100 or the Simul-Class. Those without eq claim eq is a tone sucker and so on. I have a simul-class C+ without eq and reverb. For me it is great! the amp has such great tone I don't need reverb in any situation and I prefer not to mess around with an eq.
