Mark 3C+ ?

I got a 85 Mark 3 simul-class no stripe or dot a few years and was told that at some point in its life that it was sent back to the factory and the lead channel was modded back to 2C+ specs. Now if I'm not mistaken the Mark 3 is basically a Mark 2 with the extra rhythm channel,anyone ever heard of this mod or could provide some insight on it?

Yes, there is a III+ mod, here are some links to threads about it. You can call Mesa and give them your serial number to check to see what services/mods have been performed.
