I'm a newbie to tubes as a life-long bassist, so I'm, you know, somewhat ignorant.
I'm quite happy with what I'm getting out of My M1RI, but its going on the bench soon for maintenance/repair, so I thought I'd look into possible mods. A couple searches on the board turned up references to the S&S, but I couldn't find much else. I thought I'd ask around. I think its in the Mark V documentation that a Mesa engineer talks about "tucking the bass up" for subsequent Marks. I wouldn't mind being able to use a little more bass w/o the flab, but the S&S seems a little much to me right now. Can the center frequency of the bass tone control be set higher? I do love what I'm getting now and I should mention that what I'm going for is along the lines of Larry Carlton, Robben Ford; saturated, articulate overdrive, not too bitey.
