Making a Mark IV midi? Possible?

Hello,

Just as the title says, is it possible to make the Mark IV midi? If possible, what would I have to buy/mod on it to make it happen?

Im trying to decide whether to buy a Marshall JVM or a Mark IV. I like the tone of the Mark a bit more but having the JVM be midi would make it work so much easier with a rack.

The Mark IV has an external switching jack for each of its functions, so if you connect each one to some sort of a switcher (I use the GCX), it be becomes fully midi compatible.

Only down side, it that it takes up quite a few loops on the GCX....depending on how many functions you wnat to control.

I bought a midi box built by I think access electronics a while back. It is small enought to mount inside of the combo and works great. For a while I ran a pod xt live in my loop and switched everything via midi. I might sell it if you are interested.

These are about the same size as a stomp box. it would you four switching options. ALOT cheaper than buying a GCX for the same job.

If you can find a Rockman (Scholtz) Midi Octopus that will be the perfect fit for the Mark IV. It has 8 remote jacks so you can control all of the Mark IV's functions and it is midi so your midi changes will switch with the amp in relation to your midi effects unit. I used those for years and still have one, but I use the Bradshaw CAE 4x4 currently. That one only has 4 remote jacks with 4 loops, so I only change amp channels and not Simul-Class, EQ, or F/X loop. There are tons of options depending on how complex you want to go.

You can find the midi octopus units for around $100 or so.

The RG-16 sounds cool, I watched all the vids, it would definitly do the job, its just a tad expensive, but it might be worth going for it. I may try the other cheaper alternatives first though.
