LSS head width

On Mesa's site, they give 2 different width for a LSS head : one of 23 in. and the other of 27 in. Besides the width, are there other differences between the two ? If not, what is it for : aesthetic ? To make it fit better on different cabs ?

You nailed it in your first post. It's all about aesthetic appeal and fitting on different cabs. There are no differences in features or circuitry.
