When I first got the JP2C I had trouble dialing in a good tone at low volume. But after owning it for a few months I do have a good low volume sound but it has nothing to do with my band practice volume. Pulled presence, shred mode and more bass, both GEQ and rotary knob. Using those parameters will give it a nice full tone. Once the volume is up past 10 o'clock, I pushed the presence in and turn shred off and adjust the GEQ once again The Thiele speaker sounds better than an open back cabinet. Two speakers are better than one and a 4X12 is my favorite @ 8 ohms. 100 watts. Basically what you want to do is give the tone more of everything but volume.

I actually like the Vertical 212 more than the OS Recto 412 for regular use and every day playing. Bit different character but sounds very similar. One thing to note the Vertical 212 as well as the Horizontal 212 have more notable bass at low to moderate volume levels than does the 412 cab. Hard to say which one sounds better as they are all good.

Shred definitely will give you the tone of the amp at elevated volume with low volume settings. I was also able to get similar results with the Flux Drive pedal and not use the shred mode. Still waiting for the Grid Slammer to arrive, as that should have lower gain character than the Flux Drive. I have to use the gain set low on the FD to retain the amps characteristic. I am also considering the Strymon Riverside bit I can wait for reviews on the product to be posted first (looking to get a bit of edge, soft clip, or crunch using the clean channel).

The EV speakers actually sounded better than the one's I have. I am debating if I am going to stuff my old recto cab with the EV as I have plenty of them in boxes packed away for a better day or when I get tired of what is in there. Since I have three 412 cabs, I can still get use out of my Celestion Creambacks which may actually sound better in a traditional sized cab than the OS Recto cab.

What type of guitar is that you were playing? It looks familiar yet not....

That is one of my Steinberger guitars, I'm using the bridge position pick up which is a Tom Anderson H3, James Hetfield used that pick up when recording master of puppets. The guitar has natural sustain as good as a piano, extremely loud acoustically. I'll be making a comparison video between the JP2C and a mark v25.

I also noticed that the JP-2C sounds brighter at 60W power setting for low volume approach (use the 8 ohm output). Less boomy that way. Of course there is shred mode for use with 100W power mode.
