I currently have a new mesa fillmore 25 head at home that I get to try for 30 days. The cab is a fillmore 23 inch (wiede body) with 12 inch Celestion C90 (stock) speaker.
What strikes me is that, to my taste, the bass is quite heavy (a lot of low end). My settings are as follows: gain 10.00, treble and mid 12.00, bass 9.00, presence 12.00 and master 12.00h. I use a humbucker guitar (PRS custom 24). With my strat and the bass at 11.00 the bass is also maximum for my taste. The conclusion is that, to my taste, for the bass control I can never use more than 9.00 (humbuckers) or 11.00 (single coils) for the bass. Is this normal? On you tube I can see tests where they use the bass over 13.00 but that seems way too much.
Maybe it's just me experiencing too much bass. I dont haven any experience wit Mesa amps.
