At the risk of sounding like a total fanboy, I just wanted to say that I plugged my new 50/50 in today, and it's everything I hoped it would be. I need to get a bigger rack to accomodate it, so I just plugged my preamp in (ADA MP-1) and didn't bother with the multieffects (Intellifex).

I'd played for probably half an hour before I realized that I was getting such great tone without the use of effects to beef things up as I used to do. Just great organic, more-present tone.

After reading for years about the feel of tube amps vs. solid state (I traded in a Rocktron Velocity 100), I hoped that I'd be able to discern the difference so many people talk about. Wasn't hard to hear at all.

Now about that second cabinet I'll obviously be needing ...

Check out the mesa 112 cabs for maximizing your portability and sound scape.

Some prefer open back while others prefer closed back so the decision should come down to personal taste. I have 2 road ready thiele cabs loaded with 200 watt EV speakers. The EV speakers are pretty flat and sound almost hifi-ish when compared to a Vintage 30 but they definitely are a good speaker for guitar.

Thanks for your reco, Greg.

I've currently got an Avatar 212; might get another of those simply because they're so inexpensive. But I've heard nothing but good things about the Mesa cabs, and a 112 might be helpful in exactly the ways you've talked about.

Thanks!
