Hey all,

I'm looking for a relatively small - 4 button max - midi footswitch that I could use to replace the MkIV footswitch. I already have the CFX-4 from when I used a g-system. Now that it's gone, I want to be able to mount a small pedal on my pedalboard to switch channels on the boogie.

Also, would this be a good DIY project? Anyone know of a good starting point/schematic/project?

Thanks, Dave

Well, I may have found what I need - Randall sells 3 and 4 button midi footswitches. I may be golden - I'm going to try one out tomorrow or tuesday and will report back...

That would seem to do the trick as well, but it's more than I wanted to spend on basically 3 buttons - I wouldn't need or use its other capabilities.

In one of the pictures of the Randall midi controllers I found, it states that the switching was done by Axess, so it may be a simpler version of the MFC-5...

The Randall amps and preamp (MTS Series) have internal midi done by Axess, the footswitches are only 1-4, so you can only change between 4 patches total, not 128.

Yup, and I think that's perfect - I should be able to set it up to signal the CFX-4 to switch between Rhy1, Rhy2, Lead and Lead+Eq and be able to jump directly to either setting. I emailed Mario @ Axess last night to confirm, but I think it should work fine.

Now, I just need to decide between the 3 and 4 button models to see which one would fit better on my pedaltrain board...

I heard back from Randall and Mario @ Axess - it looks like it should work just fine, so if you're looking for a smaller, midi switcher combo for the MarkIV, the CFX-4 and a Randall RF3 or RF4 should fit the bill for you...

Im looking for a pedal to do the same... pretty much to switch channels. Being that axess is gone, ill have to try the RF3 or RF4. But the midi on it is 7 pin and the mark IV has a 6 pin jack. So how will it work? Some kind of adapter?

Well, I don't think that would work for you then, since the MkIV's connector isn't midi. You'd need to find a cfx-4 used somewhere first. I sold mine a while back, but I still have the randall if you want it cheap...

so the cfx-4 is the adapter. then you plug the footswitch in that and cfx in the amp? Any other kind of devices like the cfx-4? And how much for your pedal???
