Hi everybody,
I ve been reading this forum for a while and it's been great help!
I have been the proud owner of a mesa mark iv and today I bought brand new my lonestar classic head. It's amazing!!
My only concern is that when the 10w option is enabled (no such sound at 50w and 100w) and I switch the amp to STANDBY I hear this annoying popping sound(similar to the sound many have experienced when switching channels)
The head is brand new and sounds superb.Should I worry about that popping sound?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nope, this is normal. As well as popping when switching between the power settings. It is because the amp is re-biasing itself on the different classes. There was a technical explanation of this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now.

Anyway, when removing the hi-volts from the output tubes, it's normal to hear a pop. Mine does it sometimes from 50W/100W; not always, but sometimes there's a bit of a pop. Switching power settings from 50W to 10W usually produces a much louder pop.

However, I don't remember putting it to standby from the 10W setting (I usually use it in 100W), but I figure it's completely reasonable for the amp to produce a louder pop from that setting. Does it pop when you turn it off standby as well (fully on)?

In any case, I wouldn't worry. If the amp sounds good and the power tubes behave well, I'd say that all is well. Generally popping-sounds are concidered normal with these amps. Here a response I received from Marcus Daniel @ Mesa:

The pop that you are hearing is normal, especially when manually
switching the power modes. There will also be a bit of a pop when
switching between one channel on 10 watts and the next channel on 100
watts.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the feedback!
When the amp is on full power and I put it on standby, there is no sound at all.In general the amp is really quiet.
There is no pop sounds when i switch channels with the foot-switch (I noticed pop sounds though when i manually changed channels),there are no pop sounds when I switch between power modes( from 10 to 50 or 100w).
The only pop sound is when I put the amp to standby (when 10w option is on on both channels), even when the master volume, output etc are turned all the way down.
I know I shouldn't be picky about pop sounds,it's just that i love this amp and i was saving money for quite a while to buy it and I want everything to be right!
thanks for your help!
