The manual for V1 states that drive adds "2 more triode stages." And the manual for V2 states drive adds "associated tube stages." When I checked the tube layout though, I only saw one triode devoted to the drive stage - V1A.

Here's the tube functions according to both manuals:
V1B input
V2B 2nd gain
V2A 3rd gain
V1A CH2 drive stage
(The other triodes are devoted to reverb, fx, & phase inverter/driver.)

Obviously V1A is added when drive is engaged. But what other triode is added when drive is engaged?

Is it simply that the clean channel uses 2 gain stages (V1B & V2B) and that the drive channel engages V2A as well as V1A?

Could somebody help me understand this please?

Thanks,
Scott

I just checked the schematic, and it looks like:

V1A - Drive Stage
V1B - Input Stage
V2A - Gain Stage
V2B - Gain Stage
V3A - FX loop send
V3B - FX loop return
V4A - Reverb
V4B - Reverb
V5A - Driver
V5B - Driver
