Since I got my Lone Star Classic 212 I've been experimenting with different rig configurations. I play in a working cover band so I need versatility, but for my own sake I want killer tone. Here's what I've tried:
1) Boss GT8 into LS fx return
2) Boss GT8 using 4 cable connection method to be able to utilize the LS's preamp
3) Boss GT8 for fx only in the loop of the LS (not using the GT8's preamp section or speaker sims at all)
4) Regular pedalboard with od, chorus, comp & delay - some in front of the LS and some in loop
5) Regular pedalboard - everything into the front end of the LS
6) Combination pedalboard/rack processor - od & comp in front of the LS and Rack fx in the loop
To make a log thread short ( I have to go to work), the best results were with the (#5) Regular pedalboard going into the front end of the LS - not using the loop.
