Does Mesa not have a dating system? I just picked up a very old NOS DR last night; since it is still mint w/tags, even tho prly ten+ years old, I was kinda hoping I could find a handy chart to look up, rather than follow what advice I found - which was either pull the chassis or buy it flowers. :?

The amp is one of the first 3 channel Duals - at least, when it came into the shop, was the first I'd ever seen. Dealer snagged it off the floor at a NAMM show - its one of those with the shiny black vinyl(?) and flames on the head and cab. Tacky, but kinda cool.

I'm kinda embarrassed - I've passed on it all these years since I have a Rev F DR - but shoot - this "new" 3 channel is awfully nice.

Any guesses on age, if you can't point me to a date chart? I really don't want to pull it apart, just for the sake of dating it. And my wife is the only one in the house that gets flowers.

you can call mesa and they will give u all the info on the amp. You would think that someone would put togethor a history of rectifiers..humm I might just try to do it.

that was one of the answers I found - just feel kinda silly wasting their time when all I want to know is the age of the amp. I found some details on Wiki - but you know how reliable that is.

Sounds like a good idea to me, if someone can do it. I like the Mk/Boogie page - I'm assuming much of that is correct. I wouldn't mind more info on my DRs - even tho my other one is an "F" - I think - it still came from one of the first shipments. Russo's in Omaha was one of the first big Boogie dealers - I remember walking in and seeing a wall of new Mesa heads - 6 or 8, with both black and chrome faceplates. I'd come in to check out guitars - only took a few minutes playing the "new" amp - I went out the door the proud owner of my first Dual Rectifier. (and my first Boogie that wasn't a Mark)

What is the Serial Number range (1000's, 5000's, 12000's etc.)? There are a few "Recto Specialists" here who can prob narrow down the approx age for you.

Got it - serial number is 292xx. Just for fun (and because I'm still blown away by the sound, as well as the look) - here's a pic.
