I think I need to replace the switching LDR in my Studio .22--when I switch from lead to rhythm mode, the sound drops in volume a little bit and the midrange gets scooped out, and then it comes back to normal over the next few seconds. I looked at the LDR and it's labeled 21L883, but I can't find anywhere to buy an LDR of that value. Would anything on this site work?

The "21L883" could be a lot code.

Do you have a pic of the defective LDR or other LDRs on the PC board?

I just did one on my amp.

I'm not sure which one is defective...I'm not 100 percent positive any of them are defective, but it seems like the most likely explanation for what's going on in the switching, and I understand these units tend to fail over time.

Here is a picture of three of the LDRs, which do have values I recognize (at least two of them):

Here is the mystery LDR:

Mesa's schematic doesn't specify a value for these. Does it even matter? If not, why are there different values in the first place?

They are different due to off/dark resistance to hold the circuit closed and how fast they turn on. They are also different due to how much voltage the cell can handle.

Here is the best place to get them.

Thanks for that link, Boogiebabies.

This is going back a few years, but my 50 cal had that exact part. I still have it in my junk parts box. There are no numbers on the other side of the part either. In my notes, I wrote that the VTL5C1 is the correct part replacement. I believe I called Boogie to find that out.
