Did anybody ever try this?
Is it possible?

i know the Sovtek's are supposed to be good and draw a comparable amount of current to the 6L6's.

I could be completely wrong, but I think you might have to have the fixed bias modified to match the KT66. I don't recall what their bias matches.

I had this done for 6V6s in the 50/50 at one time. It should be reversible as I reversed mine.

I use KT66's in my Simul-Satellite and no bias mod had to be made. I love em. I use the Sovteks and I think they are great. Some people say that they are "darker" sounding, but I like how they sound.

Did you say 6V6's in a 50/50?
It doesn't say in the manual you can do that.
Can you?
Maybe only in low power mode?

Those are completely different beasts as 6L6's!

Yeah I ran 6V6s in the 50/50 with a modified fixed bias. Sure they may have been running a little hot (450v IIRC) but most newer 6V6s have no problem with that. They might have expired sooner than later. But either way, I didn't keep them in and had the bias mod reversed.
