i got a friend that just got a krankenstein and he is telling me that he is gonna walk all over the top of my stiletto deuce ! we are suppose to play next weekend if all goes well . is there anyone that has played on this amp that can tell me how my mesa 100 watt will stack up against that krank 120 watt behemoth?

hes not really gonna walk over you if thats what you think  what kinda music do you play? im hoping your a lead player because you should have no problem being heard. Depending on your eq you should make a pretty nice mix, make sure you boost you mids and high. let him do rhythm his lowend and your mids and highs should sound pretty sweet :D

i recently heard a krank half stack in a band. Well a peavey 2x12 tube combo was keeping up with it so you should dominate it. Why did you let your friend get a krank? he would be better off getting a line 6. They will sound the same and he could have saved a ton of money :D

The KRANK stuff is good! Different than the Mesa stuff, though. So he may walk all over you - like a monster truck rolling over a Ferrari. Or a sweaty fat dude rolling over a prize fighter.

;)

Decibels are logarithmic. In order to be twice as loud as your 100 watt amp, your buddy would need EIGHT 120 watt amps.
Of course, if your running into a 1 x 10 cab and he's got two 4 x 12s, he's going to push more air. (So secretly disconnect half his speakers)

ööhhhh do u compare a line 6 against a Krank. line 6 sounds bad compared to krank.

Krank amps sound like a Metal Zone into a Peavey Bandit.

Your Stiletto is FAR and away a better amp.

^Agreed....Kranks have a very scooped fuzzy nature, especially with how most players dial them in for the BrOOtalZ

You Stiletto should cut right over it no problem.

Ah come on guys. Kranks aren't THAT bad. In fact -they're good!

Just a totally different flavor than a Mesa. And! I'll bet that the guys you've heard who've played a Krank and it sucked - they were trying to do that Dimebag thing and couldn't pull it off.

But I'll take my Mesas any day.

bwaw! haw! haw! thats hilarious and camsna nailed him perfect he does try to pull off the dimebag thing . treble and bass all the way up and absolutely and no mids at all. from all the ads i've seen on krank i figured they were an insanely loud amp if nothing else.

I think a lot of players overkill it by using active pickups with the super fizzy overdrive. Some of the best tones I've heard out of Kranks are using like a Seymour JB. Kranks are good, just a different breed of amp all secular to style. You never see Kranks at a blues gig, just like you don't see Fenders at a death metal show. (I know they have been there before so no one harp or send photos of all the fender amps at a cradle of filth show or something like that ) :D anyways, Kranks are a different kind of good

Your joking, right?

Krank amps will walk all over a Line 6 anyday...

Tubes rule!

i think thats whats wrong with Kranks..... not only do people dial them in to get dime's sound but the amp itself is voiced for dime's sound.... now i'm not knocking dime as a player but his tone was terrible.... at least when he was playing the warheads you could chalk it up to it being SS.... now i'm not going as far as saying Kranks are in the L6 league but to me they're a waste of good $$$

From the records I've heard with Krank and Line6, the Line6 stuff kills. Jeff Loomis is using Krank isn't he? Great player but his tone to me sounds like he's playing through molasses. Listen to any recent Meshuggah albums, even if your not a fan of the music the guitars sound unreal AND clear. Pure Line6 and I think it's the Big Bottom patch.

I've played Kranks - they're good amps. They don't suck in and of themselves. It's the douche who is trying to nail that Dime sound that makes them sound so crap. We don't need to BASH them. I mean, we already have a clear opinion of what we like...we're a Mesa forum!

I've dialed in some good sounds with a Krankenstein. I'm just not into the 'slaughter-a-goat-über-gain' sound. OR the price tag.

The new Line 6 stuff is pretty sweet. They ONLY exist because of marketing. I bought a Johnson Millennium head 10+ years ago. The Johnson stuff KILLED the Line 6 stuff. But the salesman REALLY pushed Line 6. Sounded terrible, was more expensive, and much more difficult to operate - but he was inexplicably trying to convince me that it was the way HE would go.

Nevertheless, Line 6 survived and in the last decade have really come out with some great product!

I need more tubes, though :)

I bashed Kranks for a while, but i've recenly heard a few that sound good. I doubt it'll walk over your Stiletto. I worked a show for Hinder a while ago and the guitarist with the Stiletto destroyed the other guy's Line6. Unfortunately that's the only Stiletto i've heard in person and it sounded great.

I've used quite a few line6 amps, ax212, vetta ll combo and the hd 147 halfstack.

They were all very nice sounding. My favorite was the hd 147 but the others were pretty cool too. But for me the thing is I had 1100 sounds 9000 effects and endless possibility's times a hundred. And found myself using one amp model with delay and reverb for gain and another for clean also with delay and reverb and almost all the time at the same settings between patches.

So when the hd 147 started to have some cpu problems that couldn't be dealt with here in Iceland and had to be shipped overseas I put my foot down on all these options and decided to take the tube highway. I have an artist deal with the mesa supplier here in Iceland which happens to be the line6 dealer also so we agreed that I would not promote line6amps anymore but continue to promote the toneport which I use for recording.

Now I have a stiletto trident which I use for cleans and gain, use the same setting on the effects unit on both channels but the difference is, now my rig is dripping with tone.

I'm not bashing line6 but for a company that claims their gear is pro........well that gear has to much tendency to freakish breakdowns for my taste. And just speaking about the amps mentioned earlier in this post the toneport is very useful and nice to operate.

I haven't played the kranks yet but from what I've heard on recordings one should be able to dial in some nice sounds tho they may smell Dimish.

As of krank walking all over line6 I'm not shure, the hd 147 halfstack was disturbingly loud with clarity as well as keeping the sound very defined at ear deafening volumes.

Jeeeezzzz that was a long post, sorry people.
