He plays on it for the first portion of the video, then you can see it next to him if you fast forward to 3:13. Don't let that Peavey combo behind him fool you - its not even turned on or plugged in. I've never heard any Recto sound like that. Tremoverb owners - is he using the "Blues" mode? I'd like to know because I might track one down within the next year.

This is from the special features on the Cunning Stunts DVD (Stunning Cunts as we used to call it). So this video is from somewhere around 1997. At the time I was really pissed about Load and Reload, but in retrospect they still kicked a large quantity of *** live. They were barely in their mid-30's at the time so they still had some steam left...and I think they still drank like motherfuckers.

Sounds like the clean channel with the gain set up around 3:00 or 4:00. It could be the blues channel as well, but doesn't sound like it to me. It could also be a OD into the front of the clean channel. I can get my 3 channel to sound like that in the clean mode with higher gain, or regular settings with an OD in front of it, or in the pushed, raw, and vintage modes.

you maybe right about the pedal in front because Hammett is notorious for using a tubscreamer in front of his amps especially for a lot of the load sessions type bluesy stuff and on almost all of his solos back when he used to shred

haha.... yeah he does.... but he's also big into the screamer as most lead players were during his era...... i wonder how his new randall amp sounds because apparently he doesnt need the screamer anymore with that amp.... one thing i dont understand is how his tone sounds so good on almost every record theyve put out (aside from st anger) and he sounds like *** live.... thats why hetfield is the man... always sounds awesome
