i know this is a very general question...but when playing live,i seem to have trouble keeping my guitar in tune.i have a hamer with a flyd rose bridge.i do all the basic stuff, stretching new strings etc, does anybody have any tricks of the trade or advice.thanks.

With a floyd rose that has had a lot of use, the knife edges could be dull, all the string stretching in the world won't help this. Take it to a tech and see what he thinks. There are also other floyd issues he may spot, like the age of the springs, and any wear in the locking nut.

Also check that the screws holding the locking nut are tight. My Floyd nut had just enough wiggle that no matter what I did it would go out of tune, until I found out the problem. Knife edges (Like Bouncepogo stated) go bad, needing a quick machining, as well as saddle slots in the bridge can devlope "Catch Points" that keep the string from returning to zero.
