These cabs are empty (I got them for next to nothing)
I use a Rev G Dual Rec and I've been wanting to get away from the Celestion V30 thing. Has anyone used the Eminence Patriot "Cannabis Rex" Man O Wars or Red Fangs? What do you think would sound good for Heavy Sabbath and Pink Floyd tones. I need to get the most out of the DR's clean channel but I also want the Gain sounds to be warm and full. Comments are more than welcome.

WoW vertical 4x12's? Never seen those before. That would save some serious space on small club stages, one on each side! If you are looking to get away from V30's, I love the G12T-75's with my recto. My bottom cab also has an Emenince Legend 15" which sounds fantastic. (dunno how the 12" versions sound in a GOOD cab though) I also hear great reviews on the 100watt Celestion speakers, too, as well as some of those Warehouse Guitar Speaker models.

I think that the Cannabis rex would be fine, but also think that you might enjoy mixing them with other speakers in the same cab of similar efficiency. Scumback speakers are spectacular sounding as well. They have a good story about how they came into being.

Your kind of asking for 2 different things.

For clean you need a higher powered speaker that wont break up. I used to use some JBLs in my old Fender Twin to do this.

For Sabbath you want some kind of cheap low power speaker that goes into distortion real quick.

With 2 cabs maybe you could load one for clean and one for dirty, then get a cab switcher to go between the two.

I would sure hate to haul all that **** around, but then you probably arent playing many gigs or you would be looking for something a lot more easier to carry around.

I personally love the V-30s, they work good for me for clean or dirt, but thats just my opinion. Those GT-75s someone else mentioned might be a good compromise for what you want. Ive got an old Laney cab that is loaded with H&H speakers that does the Sabbath thing pretty, of course you could probably take an exacto knife to one speaker in one of your cabs and get that sound. I wouldnt spend a lot of money going for that Sabbath sound. Just a fuzzed out, muddy sounding amp sound will do it for me.

After swapping through quite a few speakers, I found I like the Celestion G12K-100 the most with the Recto...brings it a new authority, especially at high volumes, that the V30s could never handle.

I like the G12K-100. It's got more of a scooped tone compared with V30s, and while I like the sound of V30s more, the way the G12K-100 feels at high volumes is unreal.

Glad I'm not crazy on the G12K100s and others agree....when you push those puppies, they just get SOOO aggressive...unreal is the perfect word for it.

I boost with a Maxon OD808 to give it a bit of a mid hump, so the scoop works out ok
