hi folks,

just bought a 4x10 (jensen speakers) blue angel black tolex/black grille cloth in really good condition. just over 600 english pounds:)
thats about the same as a new 2x12 rectifier cab goes for so a bit of a bargain i think.
only issue is the volume pot is a bit scratchy (wasnt serious) but the shop is getting thier amp tech to sort that out before shipping it to me. So looking forward to getting it.
it is quite hissy but i loved the sound and simplicity of this one so *had* to buy it.

Jensen makes some awful car components, so I would guess the same for music? I bet the mesa 2x12 would have been the ticket.

Congrats, the scratchy pot is no big deal but that hissy issue...

Those Jensen speakers rock mate...

The 4x10" Blue Angel is a beautiful-sounding amp, in my opinion one of the very best clean amps ever made by any company (including Fender).

Replace V2 with a 12AY7 to cure the hiss and improve (deeper, clearer, less midrangy) the tone as well. While you're at it, replace V3 ( reverb driver) and V5 (phase inverter) with 12AT7s, which gives the reverb more depth and appears to separate it more from the dry signal, and increases the overall headroom and detail.

£600 is a steal for it if it's in decent shape, the much more common and not quite so nice-sounding 1x12" normally sells for between that and about £750.

Cheers guys,
I've been playing with it all weekend, the scatchy pot got sorted and i'm loving it.
I'm just using it on the 6v6 setting at the moment.
Will try the preamp tube changes at some point i'm sure, but at the moment it sounds great as it is :)
