Saw the show in Sydney last night. Still working on developing his own style but he has the act and the fingers to do what he wants. Lyrics were hard to hear. When will these guys realize it's the song and not the guitar no matter how good.

He hardly repeated a lick all night. Lovely acoustic piece. Did a led Zeppelin number in the encore. Did it well.

Had some effect where he just waved his hand over a panel and it made noise. Cool!

Also used feedback really well. Best guitarist I've seen live since John McLaughlin in passion grace and fire. Certainly put way more effort in than the last Clapton concert I went to and also more intensity than last mark knopfler concert. Recommended.

I think he's great. Same with Warren Haynes.

... (my opinion) but seems like when Stevie Ray Vaughn passed away, there was (are) too many wannabe Blues player strapping on a Strat (Kenny Wayne Shepard, John Mayer in particular ... and I know there's a few more ... ). I guess that's o-kay, I don't know.

... but Joe Bonamassa is one guitarist that caught my attention. Some of tracks its more BB King-ish than Texas Blues ...

What do you think of the Black Country Communion album he did with Glen Hughes and Jason Bonham???
I think there is some good stuff on that album.
I prefer Hughes' vocal styling in smaller quantities though.

He's posting over on the Les Paul Forum these days while on tour in Australia. The main topic is how he's having to deal with the airlines when flying with his '59 Les Paul.

My friends got to see him and said it was a really good show. Glad to hear you can still get a quality concert in these times (Took my daughters to see "Pop Princess" and thought I was going to have a seizure  )
Black Country sounds kind of dated for me, but I'm old and bitter. Flying a '59 around? I would break out in hives.
