I had emailed Doug from Doug's tubes about what power tubes I should run with my Triple rec and he suggested the Ruby6L6GCMSTR for me. But reading on here I see a lot of people dig the JJ6L6's.

Looking for some other party opinions before I make my purchase. I play mainly melodic hardcore and some metal, and want to get the best bang for my buck.

I found the JJ's to be 'ok' in the Rectos, but IMO there are better choices.

The Ruby is a nice tube, I think it is what Mesa offers as the STR-440.

I have SED =C='s that I absolutly love in my Roadster, much better for me than the JJ's or the STR-440.

I've been hearing good things about TAD 6L6's, and may give them a try at my next re-tube.

I just did the power and pres with JJ's and I enjoy them great low end and the mids and highs come out smooth and clean. Even helped clean up the clean channel. Went to Eurotubes IMO better than the stock tubes.

I concur. Even better than the JJ 6L6 is the JJ E34L. They have more bite than the 6L6, and they do the clean channel wonders.

But I still prefer the JJ 6L6 over just about any other 6L6, especially Mesa tubes.
