JJ and peavey

I just got a Peavey JSX with JJ tubes already in it from the store. My question is that; would I have to re-bias the amp if I was to run another brand of tubes inside of it? and would it change the tone drastically?

The only way to know for sure is to check idle current (bias) with a bias probe.

Tube heads are expensive and a good bias probe and meter can be had for under $50.00.

I feel anyone who owns a tube amp should invest in a bias probe. I am not suggesting that everyone rip open their amps and poke around inside, but simply to have a way to at least check the bias without waiting for red plates and such is a great insurance policy.
