I always thought that the SOB amps were Mark series but I'll let someone who knows for sure chime in.

I was under the impression that the SOB was more or less of a bare-bones Mk I, but I could be mistaken......

"The S.O.B. was introduced sometime during the Mark II era. This was Mesa's first attempt at having a "reissue" of the Mark I. It had 2 inputs and its controls were Volume 1, Volume 2, Master, High, Middle, Low, Limit. The "Limit" seems to give distortion to the amp while maintaining the volume. It wasn't really a Mark I, however, and it does not have a great reputation."

Mesa did not have success with this so it did not last long.

An interesting tidbit is Vivian Campell had two SOB's with 100 watt power sections and Graphic EQ's. They were the only two like that.

From what I gathered up:

Isn't the SOB is like having only the rhythm channel of the Mark III where the Rhythm channel has two modes but with the SOB its footswitchable?

note: I'm not too familiar with the Mark III if the Rhythm channel is footswitchable.
