i have been a moderator on the biggest uk contractor's board [http://forums.contractoruk.com/] for several years. during these years a series of voluntary rules has evolved throughout the internet regarding the proper useage of the powers of moderators. one of these is to give clear indication to posters of the reason for the removal of any post or thread, if only to alert the poster to their impropriety and afford them opportunity to avoid posts in future which may repeat the infringement.

i am saddened to see that these worthy rules do not appear to be adhered to on this board and i remain in the dark as to why seemingly innocuous posts are removed.

Remember, there are two sides to every story, and really, it's the moderators discretion as to which kind of posts they allow. We don't know what reasons were or were not given for banning. All we have is the version of the banned person, which I should point out is telling his story in a series of spamming porno posts. Not exactly taking the high road.

I was banned from a site for making an "innocuous" political statement supporting our President in the past. I didn't agree with the banning, but recognize that the board was owned and operated by someone else, not me.

We need to get back on track here. Our moderators really don't owe us an explanation for their actions. Even those of us who are donating members have no special claim to any kind of justification. If any of us want a forum that we can control completely, we should start, pay for, and administer one ourselves.

This board has been a fantastic forum for information and comraderie. It is not a democracy...we have no "right" to post here....it's a privately run blog that has provided us all with much information and enjoyment. If we want to continue to utilize and enjoy this site, we must adhere to whatever standards our moderator sets. I, for one, think the standards here are just fine.

Dissatisfaction with an administrator's decision does not give any of us the right to post offensive material or to spam up the board with wastes of bandwith. Why screw the board up for people who have no part in your disagreement?

Let's get a life, get a clue, and stop wasting time on this subject any more...I for one am ready to get back to all things Boogie.

i have plenty of life and am sufficiently well educated [phd mathematics] to have both a clue and experience thank you very much. but i have had 2 posts deleted which contained no pictures and which were quite simply, idle chat. i'm thoroughly confused. i do think, ref post above, we are due explanations of moderator actions, especially when the poster concerned, viz me, has absolutely no idea why their posts are being deleted. are we in the chinese republic?

and besides, the only time wasted is that of people who, by choice, opt to read those posts you may consider to be 'time-wasting'. i'm simply trying to establish where i have gone wrong. trivial for you perhaps but for me...

I will not tolerate indecent pics or threads nor will I tolerate name calling and flame wars.

If you don't like it them please leave.

We are here to discuss Mesa Boogie products and nothing more.

the only pic i have ever posted is http://www.podsol.co.uk/images/mesa1.jpg

and that was about 2 or 3 months ago
