I found an interesting problem tonight in the ol' Mark IIC+. When I plug in my Ibanez RGT42 w/DiMarzio D Activators (tuned to drop C), if I pluck a power chord and hold it I get a microphonic/crackling noise that is very clearly coming through the amp. When I plug in my Les Paul w/Duncan JB/Jazz set (tuned to E or drop D) and pluck the same chord there is no microphonic/crackling sound.
Do I just need a new preamp tube somewhere, am I overloading the input with a hotter pickup, or is there potentially some other problem?
