I would say Vancouver, BC. I've lived here all my life and don't see myself leaving any time soon. As for your customers, its a half hour from the border with washington, and I know from experience that the local amp techs are scrambling to keep up with the work coming in, I was looking at a 2+ week turn around for a once over check up on my mark IV, plus it would be great to have a reputable tech in the area since I was screwed twice by one of the Mesa service centers during a (very) brief tangle with a lemon of a roadster. Its raining sideways at the moment and will for the rest of the week, but we've got beautiful summers at least.

I'd hold off on even considering moving out this way until the Olympics have long passed, it'll be a sh!t show getting around while the games are on and the cost of living will probably go up for a while.

Anyway the case has been made for vancouver, best of luck in finding a new place to call home.

My choices. Decent music scenes, good weather, plenty to do, and HOCKEY. 8) I gotta have hockey.

Uh?? Hockey in Charlotte?? Dude you are lost. The Canes are in Raleigh. You missed by 150 miles.

Yeah, I know they're in Raleigh, but that's not too bad of a drive to catch some live action every now and then. Not that they're worth watching this year, anyway.

Hey Monsta....I know you had Texas on your NOT list, but there's a TON of money here in Dallas. Winters are mild, summers are really HOT, housing market here wasn't hurt too badly last year, there is a reasonable music scene happenin' here as well. I'm about 30 miles North of the city and it gets rural pretty fast out here. Most people are cool though...besides we REALLY need a good amp tech closer to where I'm at  . Did that sound selfish and self serving enough??? Good luck on your quest, man.

   At this point, I would just be happy to live where the economy is only slightly sucky!!!!!!

The Huntsville, AL area has not taken quite the hit as some of the other US cities. It is, however, DEEP in the humidity belt.

what's wrong w/ Texas? Just because I live here.... ;)

I'm about an hour north of Austin but would like to put in some cents:

Bill U. at the Austin Tone Lab is a nice guy who is a certified Mesa Tech and does good work.

Musicmakers in Austin is a nice mom & pop type shop that isn't as showy as GC but carries great equipment to include, of course, plenty of Mesa Boogie amps!

Remember that you've got close to 50,000 UT students who want to hear some good music!

Yeah, I'm bitching about the cold, but I don't have a glacier under me. On the other hand though, don't you have lots of tall blonde women there?

We plan on visiting Austin, Raleigh (not sure of the spelling), Northern California, and a few other places in the next couple of years. I have plenty of job offers in El Paso too, but it's only 145 miles from my family so my wife is not too keen on that one, and I ******* hate the desert!

Raleigh doesn't have the best music scene (depending on what you play) but it's a great place to work right now. In NC, Charlotte and Wilmington have much better music scenes than Raleigh.

I'll have to find a job as an electrician or a Systems Integrator (fancy name for a guy who designs, wires and programs smart home tech) in one of these areas and then make the move. Hard to just jump in with 3 kids a wife, 2 dogs and a cat!

I'm bombarding people with my resume for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully by this summer I will have a positive direction to aim myself in!

I play mostly aggressive original stuff that is sort of a cross between Santana, Megadeth, ZZ Top and Zappa. What can I say, I'm a weird ******* dude!

Any music scene would be a dramatic improvement over the place I live now. If I live close enough to a few places with great music scenes I am really hoping that the amp mod and repair business will sky-rocket and I won't have to have the day job anymore. Everybody has to have a pipe dream!

There is a lot of money residing east of Seattle (including Microsoft), I used to do high-end granite and marble in a bunch of these houses. Might be a market for your skills out there.
