I've just bought a brand new Roadster head with a standard 4x12 cab + a 2x12 rectifier cab.

I haven't had much time experimenting with sounds yet, but i play mainly hardcore/metal, and would love some suggestions on how to dial in channel 3 & 4 and make them sound badass. My general problem so far has been that there's too much bass in the sound, even though I've barely turned the "bass" knob.

All help is greatly appreciated!!

Somebody help this guy please.

Im interested in the solution to his problem.

i don't own a roadster but all i can think of to do is turn up the presence and treble knobs to compensate. I have my dual recs presence and treble almost all the way up.

Thanx! I'll give that a try.

Any other suggestions anyone?

Here's a pic by the way:

omg beautiful.. lol

got any clips of that beast?

by the way, I also own a Roadster head, but I still haven't fired it up because im waiting for a cab.

Would you suggest the Traditional Mesa 4x12 or the Oversized Recto for the RoadsteR?

Turning the Treble and Presence up will help... and will sound great for chording... but any leads or solos, but probably sound harsh and thin. So you may want to use another channel for leads.

You may want to look into EL34 tubes... then don't have as much low end as 6L6 tubes.

I´ve always found that turning up the mids on my 2 ch Dual recto makes the bass tighter and gives you a more focused tone. The recto is pretty scooped, so some mids will help to give it more cut.

Try cranking the mids and see what you get.

I found this thread. Someone was having your problem.

If thats where your amp is usually you need to get if off the back wall about 2 feet or so. Try this.. as a test, use only the 2x2 or 4x12 and put something on the floor to get the cabinet off the ground 6-12 inches and then retry it you might be suprised how much it helps.

Agree with prior comment...turn your mids up and keep your bass between 9 and 10 o'clock. Otherwise you'll sound like the bass player.....

I just traded in my single rec and lonestar heads in on a roadster. I need more than two channels so the roadster seemed like the answer. Like the lonestar, the roadster has 6l6 tubes and 100 watts... so I figure that the clean channel would be somewhat the same. Not so! I cannot get a chrystal clear tone from this amp. At gig volume it came out pleasantly distorted...but thats not what I need from the clean channel. I wonder if I had chosen a triple rec that it would have a better clean tone due to the higher headroom of the 150 watts.
