...it is a very early model, apparently one of the first 300. In great conditions.

I was looking for a newer model because of the more modern sound, but I have to consider this one, to save the hassle of buying from eBay, shipping and stuff.

Would you go for it?
 
If it is fully functional and at a good price, absolutely. The IV has been around for many years due to its versatility and should be able to cover modern tones easily. However, it is not as plug-and-play as a Rectifier or other amps, so be prepared to tweak.

Also, the difference between an early 1990s IV and a 2000s IV is negligible. One won't give you more modern tones than the other.
 
yeah i'd go for it. some people prefer the early ones, and if yours really is one of the first 300, it could be a nice little collectors item too!
