Hi all. I have a Formula that has aa annoying hum in the lower register. I wonder if this is a common problem or? I also get the radio in on it. Any suggestions?

Yes, basically everywhere.

Does the Formula have a "ground lift" switch? If so, try changing the position it's in.

One other thing-- make sure you're using good cables when you plug in. I have an old cable that will pick up FM radio when plugged into some pedals. Is the hum the same when there's no guitar plugged in?

Are you plugged into a power conditioner of any kind?

You said 'basically'--are there places where it doesn't hum?

To me this sounds like a power problem... (duh, obviously.) I'd suggest that if you don't have a power conditioner already, go to your local music store, plug the Formula into a wall and see if it hums, then into a power conditioner and see if it still hums. If it does, the problem's in the preamp and you'll need it looked at. If it doesn't, you're possibly just going places with really crappy power and you need a power conditioner.

this sounds like a problem for disassembled :D
