Just picked up a Hughes & Kettner Attax 100... 3 switchable channels and a switchable fx loop with an extra mode on the lead channel, reverb, fx blend control, recording out, 120 watts......... one hell of a dirt cheap hybrid amp!

Looks good inside and has a pretty nice looking H&K transformer. I switched the 12ax7 for a balanced Penta Labs... sounds great and is now as quiet as a mouse!

Highly recommend this one as a work horse as I can manage to pull most tones out of it quite well... put my boss PS-2 pitchshift / delay in the loop and ran a Boss MZ-2 digital metalizer out front (remember those?!?) for that bit of 'push'..

Very satisfied...

I'm a new convert to H&K - got myself a triamp Mk1 a few months back, H&K seem to be a well-kept secret!!! They're awesome amps!

I've tried H&K's and have been pretty intrigued with the versatility of the channel switching and built in effects. Actually it was the guitar player from Queensryche (allow me to name drop here) that told me to go try a Switchblade (he uses one and says he really likes them). I was playing a dual rectifier at the time and wasn't happy with it, and he agreed they were too "fizzy" for him too. So I went and tried one but the effects weren't working so I got spooked on the quality issue and went with an Ace and footpedals. I'd still go back and revisit H&K though. Hey, if it's good enough for Alex Lifeson...

Every H&K I have tried has had a strange upper midrange that I don't like. Great amps but not great for everyone.

The best 3 channel amp out there IMO is the H&K MKII Triamp. Versatile EQ, Versatile channel modes, great gain structure. Midi equipped, tube driven reverb...Why don't I have one...Price and weight. Man those things are heavy.
